I thoroughly enjoyed our meal here! The server found me the perfect wine to match the flavor profile and price range I was looking for. I had a cup of bisque and the risotto; both were excellent. Can’t wait to go back.

We went here on a whim for an early dinner. The valet parking in the back of the restaurant was a lovely surprise, especially with the oftentimes crazy parking on Brookside. We decided to start our meal with the deviled eggs, despite my hesitancy-I have never had a deviled egg that I enjoyed, but was feeling up to the challenge, and boy was I happy that I did! The egg filling was amazing, the spicy remoulade added the perfect amount of zest, and the fried oysters were delicious. During the meal, I actually mentioned to my boyfriend that I could eat a whole plate of them as a meal. For our entrées, I had the bone in in pork chop with mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, a peach compote and blue cheese crumbles. The pork chop was humongous and juicy, and all of the flavors of the dish really came together. My boyfriend had their special, duck breast with couscous and asparagus. I managed to sneak a bite of his, and it was wonderful as well, the portions were large, and he actually had to help me finish my plate (I had my eye on dessert). For dessert we had the chocolate mouse, which was the perfect end to the meal. It was light, fluffy, and not too heavy. The service was exceptional with the perfect balance of attention. We came here on a whim, and I am so glad that we did! We definitely want to come back and try other dishes!

I dined with two others (plus a doggie!) at the Hen Bistro last night and I hope we’ll be back again soon. In short, the food is expertly prepared and the service was attentive and informed. We had a completely lovely experience. The longer version: we called ahead to see about patio seating, since we wanted to take our friend’s dog with us. They have two outdoor options: tables overlooking the R Bar and Brookside, and courtyard tables with a view of a large fountain. We opted for the latter, since it was quieter and cooler. The staff had absolutely no problem with our doggie and even brought water and a bowl out right away for her. We started with a gorgeous caprese appetizer. When the server had taken our order, he heard that two of us would share it, so he had the kitchen split the app into two plates so we each had our own portion. How great is that? The burrata on the caprese was milky and delicious, and the arugula pesto was a nice spicy twist on the classic. My BF had the deviled eggs with fried oysters, which looked extremely decadent.

Our entrees of Columbia River salmon and Idaho trout were perfectly prepared: neither fish was overdone, and both were seasoned appropriately. The vegetables on both dishes were also fresh and tasty; the white beans with the salmon were tender and flavorful. We shared a chocolate mousse for dessert, which comes with grilled or bruleed peaches in a brandy sauce of some kind (omg!)—this was another nice twist on a simple dish. Our server Elliott was informed, professional, and friendly, and he attended carefully to us even though we were the only party dining outdoors on a hot July night. He was one of the best servers I’ve encountered in Tulsa, frankly. Overall, our meal at the Hen Bistro was pretty perfect and I am already looking forward to a return visit the next time we have an occasion to do so!

We were back at the Hen on Monday night for fried chicken with friends. Yum! I foresee this bistro being one of our “go-to” places for out-of-town guests in particular. Its perfectly prepared, delicious food—served expertly—showcases the best of Tulsa. :)

LOVE THIS PLACE. It’s a little quiet but our bartender was great and the food can’t be beat. I suggest the deviled eggs and salmon. Must go!

Great food, service and ambiance. The fried chicken was wonderful, crispy and hot. I’ll be back.

We went on a weekend evening and it was a full house, and lively. The back room was quite noisy and could benefit from some sound absorbing panels, art, or furnishings of some kind. The dill tomato bisque was excellent and the pan-roasted brown trout was hands down the best trout I’ve ever experienced.
